Paints

When it comes to paints, there are a few different types that you can choose from. Watercolors are great for beginners as they are relatively easy to use. Acrylics are another popular type of paint that is perfect for those who want to create bolder and brighter artwork. Oil paints are the most difficult to use but they provide the richest and most vibrant colors.

No matter what type of paint you choose, be sure to get a good quality brand. Some of the best brands include Winsor & Newton, Golden, and Liquitex. You will also need a few different sizes of brushes to apply your paint, as well as a palette or two to mix your colors on.

Canvas

If you want to get serious about painting, then you’re going to need a good canvas. Canvas comes in a variety of different sizes and types, so it’s important to choose the right one for your needs.

For beginners, we recommend starting with a pre-stretched canvas. This type of canvas is already stretched tight on a wooden frame, so you don’t have to worry about doing it yourself. Just make sure to buy the right size for your easel or work surface.

If you’re looking for a more professional-grade canvas, then we recommend an artist-grade linen or cotton canvas. These canvases are much higher quality than pre-stretched canvases, and they’ll last longer too. Just be prepared to stretch them yourself – it’s not difficult, but it is an extra step in the process.

No matter what type of canvas you choose, make sure it’s primed and ready to go before you start painting. A primed canvas provides the perfect surface for your paint to adhere to, and it also helps prevent your colors from bleeding through. We recommend using gesso primer for best results.

Sketchbook

If you want to get serious about making art, one of the first things you’ll need is a sketchbook. A sketchbook is a book where you can draw, paint, and write down your thoughts and ideas. It’s a great place to experiment with new techniques and styles, and to document your creative process.

There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a sketchbook:

Size: Sketchbooks come in all different sizes. Choose one that is comfortable for you to carry around and work in.

Paper type: Some sketchbooks have thin pages that are easy to rip, while others have thick pages that can handle wet media like watercolors. Decide what type of medium you want to use before choosing your sketchbook.

Binding: Sketchbooks can be bound with spiral coils, staples, or even sewn stitching. Consider how you will be using your sketchbook before selecting a binding method.

Drawing pencils

When it comes to drawing pencils, there are a few different types that artists typically use. The most common type of pencil is the graphite pencil, which is made with a mix of clay and graphite. Graphite pencils come in a range of hardness, from very soft to very hard. Soft graphite pencils are good for sketching and making light lines, while hard graphite pencils are better for precision work and making darker lines.

Another type of pencil that artists use is the charcoal pencil. Charcoal pencils are made with a mix of charcoal and clay, and they also come in a range of hardness levels. Charcoal pencils are good for making dark lines and shadows, and they can also be used for erasing mistakes.

Finally, there are colored pencils, which as the name suggests, are made with colored pigments instead of graphite or charcoal. Colored pencils can be used for adding color to drawings or for shading areas that have already been drawn with graphite or charcoal.
